International students are expected to maintain satisfactory attendance and active engagement in their studies in order to achieve successful course progression.

In line with student visa requirements, this generally means maintaining a minimum of 80% attendance in scheduled learning activities, unless approved absences apply.

ICQA monitors attendance alongside assessment participation and academic progress. Where a student’s attendance or engagement raises concerns, ICQA implements early intervention and support strategies to assist the student to remain on track.

Attendance monitoring and reporting are managed in accordance with the ESOS Act 2000 and the National Code of Practice for Providers of Education and Training to Overseas Students 2018, including PRISMS reporting where required.

Entry Requirement

International students must demonstrate English language proficiency equivalent to IELTS 6.0 (Academic or General) or equivalent through one of the following:

  • IELTS, PTE Academic, TOEFL iBT, or Cambridge English test results
  • Completion of a Certificate IV or higher qualification delivered in English in Australia
  • Completion of at least five (5) years of secondary education taught in English
  • Other evidence as approved by ICQA’s English Language Proficiency Assessment

Applicants should have the physical capacity to:

  • Perform practical care activities, including manual handling
  • Complete 120 hours of workplace learning in aged care or disability support settings
  • Meet industry work health and safety requirements

All applicants will complete a Pre-Training Review to:

  • Assess language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills
  • Identify any additional support needs
  • Determine suitability for the program
  • Explore Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) opportunities
  • Hold a valid Student Visa (Subclass 500) or equivalent
  • Maintain at least 80% attendance in accordance with visa conditions
  • Achieve satisfactory course progress
  • Maintain Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of studies
  • Be 18 years or older
  • Meet English language requirements (as per CRICOS)
  • Complete an LLN assessment
  • Hold or be eligible for relevant checks (National Police Check, Blue/Yellow Card)
